When it comes to Roller Garage Door Fitting there are two different ways to mount the door to the garage opening There are also a few variations of these methods.
The two basic roller garage door fitting methods are “Back Fixing” and “Between Fixing”. Depending on the particular measurements of the opening and your needs, one method may be more beneficial for you than the other.
Back Fixing – Roller Garage Door Fitting
Back fixing a roller garage door allows you to maximise the the opening size. In this scenario the roller garage door is fitted to the inside of the garage, on the back of the brick piers.
This means the door guide rails do not encroach on the opening at all allowing the maximum possible opening width. Also, depending on the construction of the garage, there is often some space above the opening on the inside. The roll casing can be raised above the opening (or partially), maximising the opening height.
By utilising back fixing when fitting roller garage doors we have enabled some clients to fit vehicles into their garage that they were previously unable to.
Depending on how the previous door was fitted, there may be some unsightly brickwork uncovered when it is removed. If back fixing is used, it may well be necessary to install some upvc trims to neatly cover this bricking when the roller garage door is fitted.
Between Fixing – Roller Garage Door Fitting
Between fixing a roller garage door allows you to maximise the length of the garage. In this scenario the roller garage door is fitted towards the outside of the garage, between the brick piers.
Between Fixing allows a clean, flush look to be achieved. Because the guide rails are fitted between the brick piers any unsightly brickwork which was covered up by the old door is once again covered by the new roller garage door.
